Morocco, Savoured Slowly

There's a particular kind of place that gets under your skin before you've even booked the flight. Souks spilling colour into narrow lanes. The Atlas Mountains rising behind rose-gold city walls. Mint tea poured from a height, and the quiet of a riad courtyard at dusk. Morocco does that to people.

At Emma Whiting Travel, we love getting to know a destination before recommending it to clients. So recently, the team brought a little taste of Morocco to a Melbourne kitchen, joining a Moroccan cooking experience at YesChef Cooking School with Chef Paul Lenoury.

We cooked, tasted, learnt a few new tricks and, perhaps most importantly, got a little closer to the flavours and traditions that make Morocco so special. Click here to watch a video to get a taste of our unforgettable experience together.

Where to Eat, Sip & Linger in Marrakech

Some of the most memorable moments in a city happen around a table, discovering a tucked-away restaurant, finding the right rooftop for sunset or knowing exactly where to stop for a drink after a day of exploring.

Anyone can find a restaurant online. Knowing which rooftop to book for sunset, which courtyard spot locals actually love, or where to linger after dinner, that takes local connections. It's this kind of insider knowledge, built through personal travel and trusted partners on the ground, that turns a good Marrakech itinerary into an unforgettable one.

Kabana - One of the livelier rooftops in the medina, with views towards the Koutoubia, a cosmopolitan atmosphere, creative cocktails and regular music. It works particularly well for sunset drinks followed by dinner.

rest-2.jpg

Dardar - A stylish rooftop in the heart of the medina, combining panoramic views with contemporary Moroccan cuisine. The atmosphere becomes more animated in the evening. Perfect night out!

rest-3.jpg

El Fenn - More design-led and relaxed, with one of the closest rooftop views of the Koutoubia. Its colourful interiors, generous terrace and cocktail bar make it a particularly photogenic Marrakech address.

rest-4.jpg

Nobu Rooftop Garden - With 360-degree views across the city and towards the Atlas Mountains. The crystal clear pool, cabanas and music give it more of a cosmopolitan, beach-club feel.
